Richard has nearly 27 years’ experience in serving as a Governor of Church Primary schools. He is currently Chair of Governors at St Andrew & St Francis Primary school, which has seen rapid improvement to be a Good School. He is active in his local church in West London and has recently served on the Board of the LDBS. He is Vice Chair of Governors at Leopold Primary School and a Governor at St Mary and St Pancras Primary School in Camden.
His home town is Newcastle and he follows the Magpies, which is sometimes depressing! He has lived in Hammersmith and Fulham for over 30 years and is a passionate supporter of England Rugby. He went to school in Yorkshire and followed this up by joining the navy as a navigator. Saw the world and was paid for the privilege! His commercial background has been spent in senior management in the fashion industry and in top-end retailing and brand management. He currently runs his own consultancy business mentoring and advising small businesses. His hobbies include watching sport, cinema, travel, and especially cooking. He says “I don’t run, cycle (any more), play tennis, gym or do any kind of active sport as I’m just not built that way!”
He’s passionate about primary education and believes that we all have a responsibility to give our children the chance to start life on the right foot with a good basic education and equip them to “Shape our City” for the future.
