Leopold School Governors

EXECUTIVE HEADTEACHER

Mrs Rose Ashton

Mrs Rose Ashton

CHAIR OF GOVERNORS

Zac is a freelance teacher of mindfulness. Until August he worked in a large secondary school in Ealing, teaching mathematics and religious studies, and overseeing a cohort of 200 students. The students completed their GCSE exams and went in different directions, which seemed the natural time for something new. Zac’s experience of pastoral work in school informs the safeguarding aspects of his role. His teaching experience informs the work of the Curriculum, Standards and Personnel committee. Zac has been a governor since March 2017.

Prior to teaching, Zac studied theological and religious studies at the University of Cambridge, and then spent a year on a fellowship at Yale University in the USA. In addition to his passion for mindfulness, Zac is a keen reader and an enthusiastic (if not overly skilled) runner and sportsperson. Zac married Becky in July 2019. They live in Harlesden.

SAFEGUARDING GOVERNOR

Mr Richard Walton

Mr Richard Walton

Richard has nearly 27 years experience in serving as a Governor of Church Primary schools. He is currently Chair of Governors at St Andrew & St Francis Primary school, which has seen rapid improvement to be an Good School in 36 months. He is active in his local church in West London and has recently served on the Board of the LDBS.

His home town is Newcastle and he follows the Magpies, which is sometimes depressing! He has lived in Hammersmith and Fulham for over 25 years and is a passionate supporter of England Rugby. He went to school in Yorkshire and followed this up by joining the navy as a navigator. Saw the world and was paid for the privilege! His commercial background has been spent in senior management in the fashion industry and in top-end retailing and brand management. He currently runs his own consultancy business mentoring and advising small businesses. His hobbies include watching sport, cinema, travel, and especially cooking. He says “I don’t run, cycle (any more), play tennis, gym or do any kind of active sport as I’m just not built that way!”

He’s passionate about primary education and believes that we all have a responsibility to give our children the chance to start life on the right foot with a good basic education and equip them to “Shape our City” for the future
