Greeting from the Chair of the PTFA
The PTFA welcomes you to the new school year at Leopold Primary School.
With the new premises at Gwenneth Rickus completed, even more children were able to join the wonderful family of Leopold Primary School in September. The joint event last summer demonstrated the strength of our community, and the PTFA are planning to create further events where both schools come together allowing the children, parents and staff to enjoy more time as one body.
Aims of the new PTFA for the new school year are to work closely with the governing body and the school leadership team to ensure that an open and beneficial dialogue exists. A greater collaboration between all groups of parents should be developed and ideas should be disseminated that improve the life of our kids at school and within the community we all live in.
The PTFA would like to be transparent and keep everyone informed about regular meetings and their outcomes.
The new PFTA team encourages and welcomes new ideas and initiatives to foster this positive ethos the school has created for our children.
Please continue to support the PTFA by volunteering your time and attending school events. Without your invaluable efforts, our PTFA wouldn’t be what it is today.
Our main aim is to raise funds to provide the school with extra resources and opportunities – every single penny we raise goes directly to improve the life of the children at the school. Beyond this, the PTFA exists to forge closer links between home and school. By working together, we can all contribute to the creation of an exciting school environment as well as unique learning experiences for all pupils. As a school, we pledge to give our pupils “amazing experiences” – the PTFA plays a valuable role in achieving this goal.
Each year we put several events together like discos, the winter fair and summer party. Further events will be published on the Events page soon and these will provide plenty of opportunities to get involved, raise funds for the school, meet parents, staff and children, and enjoy time together.
We hold a coffee morning on the first Friday after every general PTFA meeting where you can catch up on PTFA news over tea or coffee. We also run a “nearly new” uniform service where we offer good quality secondhand uniforms for sale. We sell them at school events, in the foyer or by requesting specific items. If you have items of uniform that you no longer want, they can be left in the uniform collection box in the foyer. Help is always needed, and is highly valued.
Further fundraising will be organised through local businesses and the bag2school recycling scheme, and the PTFA aims to register Leopold Friends as a charity to receive even more substantial funding to benefit our children.
