Growing Minds. Igniting Dreams. Empowering Futures.

At Leopold Primary School, our Sports Premium funding is strategically invested to nurture the whole child – developing not just physical skills, but also resilience, confidence, teamwork and a lifelong love of movement and healthy living. All decisions on investment are made with the school's context and the needs of all of our children in mind.

Growing Minds

Through high-quality PE and sport, we cultivate children's understanding of their bodies, health and wellbeing. We provide opportunities for every child to develop fundamental movement skills, learn new sports, and understand how physical activity supports their mental health and academic learning. Our curriculum encourages curiosity about different sports and activities, helping children discover what they enjoy and excel at.

Igniting Dreams

We inspire children to set ambitious goals and believe in their potential. Whether it's mastering a new skill, representing the school in competition, or simply challenging themselves to improve, we celebrate every achievement. Through exposure to diverse sports, role models and competitive opportunities, we help children discover their passions and aspire to reach their personal best – in sport and in life.

Empowering Futures

We equip our pupils with the skills, knowledge and attitudes they need for a healthy, active future. By building confidence, teaching leadership, promoting fair play and developing resilience through sport, we prepare children to face challenges with determination. We ensure all children, regardless of background or ability, have equal access to enriching sporting experiences that will serve them throughout their lives.

How We Will Bring This Vision to Life

Our Commitment

  • Quality first teaching: Investing in specialist staff from January 2025 to ensure every PE lesson is engaging, inclusive and progressive
  • Inclusive participation: Ensuring all children, including those with SEND and disadvantaged pupils, access a broad range of sporting activities through the provision in our Schools   Partnership
  • Competitive opportunities: Providing chances to compete at intra-school, inter-school and community levels
  • Healthy lifestyles: Promoting physical activity throughout the school day, including active playtimes and extra-curricular clubs (started January 2025)
  • Swimming proficiency: Ensuring all children have the opportunity to be able to swim confidently and safely by the end of Key Stage 2

Partnership working: Exploring collaborating with local sports clubs, coaches and secondary schools to enhance provision and making this part of the regular school provision.
